Charity chief resigns after investigation

altThe chief of a local charity has resigned after an investigation by its board, which reported ‘one of the most challenging years’ for its staff.

Argyll and Bute Third Sector Interface, which has offices in Dunoon, Oban, Bowmore, Lochgilphead, Campbeltown and Helensburgh, said ‘there have been ongoing investigations into some aspects of the management and governance of the charity’.

A statement added: "As the board of a charity and one funded by public money, we had a responsibility to ensure that the findings of these investigations were comprehensively reviewed, and as a result Argyll and Bute TSI disciplinary procedures were instigated."

The New Year's Day Dook for Olly saw a whole bunch of intrepid souls take to the waters of Dunoon's West Bay just after 2pm today.


The promenade was packed with wellwishers as the dookers waited fort he piper to stop playing - thier cue to enter the Clyde.


"It was everything I expected," said one after the five minute dip.

Police Scotland and RSPB Scotland are issuing a joint appeal for information after a young hen harrier was discovered dead with unexplained injuries on an estate near Dunoon. 

“Kathy”, a female bird, was satellite tagged as a chick on the Cowal Peninsula in August this year (2017) as part of the RSPB’s EU-funded Hen Harrier LIFE+ Project.
